STORY TIME: Gobin Edition

STORY TIME: Gobin Edition

STORY TIME! Yesterday was National Sticker Day and this is the perfect story for the day!

Never in my life did I think someone would email the MAYOR over a sticker I sell.

It’s summer 2023 at 6:30 am during the Farmer’s Market. I am finishing setting up the booth. Someone walks up and browses my stickers, I say good morning. No response. She pulls her phone out to take a picture of one of the stickers. I say “how are you?” Then I got the biggest stank face ever. She speeds off.

I didn’t really think much of it until I got an email from the farmers market manager later that week.

Basically, the unhappy bitter person didn’t like what I was selling and was wondering why the farmers market allowed such things to be sold.

I wasn’t in trouble. I wasn’t asked to not sell anything. I continued with my life and business.

I was an occasional vendor at the Farmer’s Market. Wasn’t there every week and wasn’t in the same spot every time. But since she saw me that first time, she made it a point to find me, take a picture, and send another email.

In 2023 she emailed the Farmer’s Market manager, the CEO of the organization, and then the Mayor!

The season ends and I am back at the Farmer’s Market in April of 2024.

Once again, she is coming by, taking pictures, not saying anything directly to me, but emailing away. At this point she has a nickname: Goblin.

When she saw me come back in 2024, you would have thought she got the picture. That literally no one cared EXCEPT her.

Summer 2024, she finally stops. Like I think she has given up!

I return to the Farmer’s Market in 2025. My third year being accepted. My second year being accepted even tho the Mayor knows who I am. BECAUSE NO ONE CARES!

Day 1 of the 2025 season I am put directly across from the info tent. I am told she is not to take pictures. If she does, take a picture back and report her.

We are setting up. I am in a space where people can approach the tent from every direction. I turn around AND SHE IS TAKING YET ANOTHER PHOTO. And this time my husband is bent over and his butt is in the shot.

I am now livid.

I start saying this is harassment at this point to the Farmer’s Market manager. Her boss steps in. Tells me there is a meeting happening. With her, her boss (the CEO of the organization) and the City Council President.

It was all decided that if she doesn’t like what I sell then turn the other way. She is not to come near me or take any pics of me.

She had the nerve to say to the Farmer’s Market manager, “they wouldn’t sell this at the football stadium down the road.” What does that have to do with the FREE farmer’s market you are attending?!

Anyway, the harassment finally stopped. But I kept giving her the stink eye.

and I won’t be back in 2026, but not because of her. Because I am stepping back from Markets. Will not miss her goblin face tho.

Weird info: she would get to the farmer’s market at 5 am to walk around. It wouldn’t even open until 7 am. She never purchased anything. It was like she self-delegated herself to be the Farmer’s Market police.

Here are the stickers that were such a problem:

yeah I get that they aren't for everyone. Some people don't like crab rangoons. (for the more serious people: it was displayed 5.5 feet in the air so little kids weren't able to see.)

If you aren't bothered by profanity, cuss words or a fun time, you can purchase some stickers right here: https://erindayhaw.com/collections/newest-stickers

and if you are bothered, idk why you are here.
